What is the MARC-HI Everest Framework?
The MARC-HI Everest framework is designed to make the development and testing of HL7v3 based systems easier than working with pure XSDs.
The MARC-HI Everest framework is Free and Open Source (licensed under the Apache 2 License) and can be used in commercial grade applications. MARC-HI Everest allows developers to create fully compliant HL7v3 messages in a loosely coupled architecture.
The current distribution of Everest includes support for the Canadian Realm v2.04.0, v2.04.2 and v2.04.3 and Universal Normative Edition 2008 with XML ITS 1.0 (with datatypes R1).
The MARC-HI Everest Framework integrates with Visual Studio to lower the learning curve related to development of systems with the framework.
Architecture
The MARC-HI Everest Framework is modeled using a very loosely coupled architecture. This design allows application developers to program against one set of HL7v3 models, and serialize/de-serialize to many different Implementable Technology Specification (ITS) formats. The MARC-HI Everest Framework also allows applications to consume or produce these models using a wide array of transport mechanisms.
This flexible architecture ensures that the internal canonical data of your application is safely insulated from changes in the HL7v3 ITS, or transport specifications.
